To print it you don't need to concatenate it. The prn procedure unfortunately returns the first argument, not the result of the output.

  arc> (prn (+ "goodbye, " "cruel" " world"))
  goodbye, cruel world
  "goodbye, cruel world"
  arc> (prn "goodbye, " "cruel" " world")
  goodbye, cruel world
  "goodbye, "

If the resulting string is what you want, call string instead of prn.
